Permanent deal triggered

Juventus have officially activated the purchase clause for Loïs Openda following his loan spell from RB Leipzig, making the move permanent.

However, despite completing the deal, the Italian club are already exploring options to sell the Belgian forward in the upcoming transfer window.

Automatic condition met

The obligation to buy clause was triggered after Juventus secured a top-half finish in Serie A, activating a condition included in the agreement with Leipzig.

The total deal is expected to cost around €46 million, with the player set to sign a contract until 2030.

Struggles in Italy

Openda has struggled to make an impact since arriving in Turin, scoring just one goal in 23 appearances across all competitions.

His limited influence in the attacking phase has raised doubts within the club regarding his long-term role in the squad.

Strong past record

The Belgian forward previously impressed at RC Lens, scoring 21 goals in the 2022/23 season before earning a €40 million move to RB Leipzig.

In Germany, he continued to deliver, recording 24 goals and 7 assists in his first season, followed by 9 goals and 7 assists in the following campaign.

Juventus already exploring exit

Despite committing to the transfer, Juventus are reportedly not satisfied with the player’s performances and are already looking for a potential exit solution.

The club could attempt to recover part of their investment as they reassess their attacking options.

Sell-on clause involved

As part of the transfer chain, RC Lens are expected to receive a percentage from any future sale involving the player.

This adds an extra layer to a deal that could continue to evolve in the coming months.
